Orienteering and compass

February 7, 2025
A compass is a preparation for determining the side of the sky, for orientation or orientation. Have you ever been on an orientation course? Fun, educational — we recommend. It is obvious, however, that in these challenging and exceptional times around the world, in Europe and at home, we will all be participants in such and different orienteering courses.

A few days ago, the European Commission confirmed the so-called. Compass EUto restore competitiveness and ensure sustainable prosperity”.

During her presentation, the President of the European Commission also stressed that it is necessary to move from words to actions and that there is now a political will and a concrete plan.

Three main areas are highlighted:

· innovation,

· Decarbonisation and

· safety,

and then again Five horizontal factors:

· simplifications,

· reducing barriers to the single market;

· Financing of competitiveness,

· Promoting skills; and

· creating quality jobs and better coordination of policies at EU and national level.

Even in all the discussions so far with all those who formulate policies, strategies, national plans, regulatory and many other rules in Slovenia, we always emphasize the need to simplify the regulatory framework, all with the aim of greater transparency and simplicity. The less complex the system, the fewer exceptions, the easier it is to implement and control, after all, all this costs us less.

The next important focus is to coordinate the different policies in such a way that they work in concert and that the effects are comprehensive and for the benefit of the majority.

The last, but therefore almost the most important for the future, or as our slogan “for Slovenia's development breakthrough” applies, is “promoting skills and creating quality jobs.” Only more complementary, multidisciplinary skills and more knowledge will mean better quality jobs, jobs that bring us more created or added value. As stated in the European Commission: “The foundation of Europe's competitiveness is its citizens.”

Everything written and expressed in the aforementioned Compass, we support and expect that there will indeed be concrete, important moves at EU and national level.

Finally, much of what is written in the Compass can also be found in our own, we can call it visionary Manifestoand program of work, which further motivates us to work together with all members for the development breakthrough of Slovenia!
