A few days ago, the European Commission confirmed the so-called ”Compass EU to restore competitiveness and ensure sustainable prosperity”.
During her presentation, the President of the European Commission also stressed that it is time to move from words to action, noting that there is now both the political will and a concrete plan in place.
Three main areas are highlighted:
· innovation,
· decarbonisation, and
· safety,
and then again five horizontal factors:
· simplification,
· reducing barriers to the single market;
· financing competitiveness,
· promoting skills; and
· creating quality jobs and better coordination of policies at both the EU and national levels.
In all our discussions with those who formulate policies, strategies, national plans, and various regulations in Slovenia, we consistently emphasize the need to simplify the regulatory framework to ensure greater transparency and ease of use. The less complex the system and the fewer the exceptions, the easier it is to implement and monitor -and ultimately, it costs us less.
The next important focus is to coordinate different policies so that they work in concert, ensuring that their effects are comprehensive and benefit the majority.
The final point, which is perhaps the most important for the future, or as our slogan “for Slovenia's development breakthrough” suggests, is “promoting skills and creating quality jobs.” Only more complementary, multidisciplinary skills and greater knowledge will lead to higher-quality jobs, jobs that generate more created or added value. As stated by the European Commission: “The foundation of Europe's competitiveness is its citizens.”
We support everything written and expressed in the aforementioned Compass and expect to see concrete, significant progress at both the EU and national levels.
